I know I've been writing a lot about weekend weddings, but I've been encountering them more lately, and I'm a huge fan! This couple rented a house in Malibu and invited their close family for an intimate wedding ceremony and weekend stay that consisted of a 12 person guest list. It was pouring down rain (and I mean buckets...my car was sliding on my way to drop off the flowers!) situated on top of a beautiful hill overlooking the ocean and canyon.

Location is everything for your wedding, and even though it was a small guest list, they still wanted all the details to matter...from the flowers and location to the cake and invitations, and everything in between. They had the best attitudes about the rain, and 15 minutes before vows were exchanged, the skies dried up, and they got their dream ceremony. Another wedding weekend done right.

At the end of the day...at the end of the weekend, you are married, and you were surrounded by the people you loved most, and those are the memories you will cherish and remember. I don't think rain is a bad thing on your wedding day. It rained on my wedding day in the morning. And I think it makes for lovely photos, and a beautiful mood. And I think it heightens our senses and we remember more in the end...because for some reason, rain does not blur things.

Tea Inspired Wedding: 100 Layer Cake Feature

I am just now getting a chance to share the photos of the shoot I styled and did florals for that was featured on 100 Layer Cake recently. I'm a huge tea drinker, and I was inspired to design a shoot revolving around the idea of high tea.

I chose the china I wanted to use first, and revolved the colors and details around that. With a beautiful floral print, I had Macaroons hand painted with the same floral pattern. I also sent the china pattern to the invitation designer, who was able to pull inspiration for her paintings and table number as well.

I wanted all of the makings for a unique wedding inspiration that delighted in small vignettes. The tea bar with traditional loose leaf tea selections and a hand painted menu also inspired by the florals of the china, tied in all the elements in a beautiful blend. I wanted soft blush details throughout the florals and linens, and a classic lace adorned dress that kept the theme soft, southern, and sweet. Everything about this shoot feels fresh and ready for spring in an organic, effortless way.
